There’s something ridiculously magical about Stanley Park in November. Sure, everyone obsessively tracks the cherry blossoms in spring, but if you ask me, late autumn is where the real magic happens.
We met up just after sunrise on a crisp November morning, and honestly? It was pure gold. The park was quiet, the air had that sharp, fresh fall chill, and the morning light coming through the trees was straight out of a movie.
Setting an early alarm for a morning shoot can be a tough sell, but the moment that low sun hit the crimson and burnt-orange leaves, it was 100% worth it. Golden hour in late fall hits different—it’s soft, moody, and gives everything this dreamy, cinematic glow that you just can’t replicate in the middle of the day.
The couple crushed the cozy-chic look, too:
Think heavy knits, tailored coats, and warm earth tones that blended seamlessly with the backdrop.
Pro tip: Layering isn’t just about staying warm; it adds so much texture to your photos!
I always suggest layers at this time of year, but for whatever reason, it wasn’t that cold!
We spent the morning laughing, chasing the best pockets of light, and warm-ing up cold hands between shots. Late autumn sessions might require a warm coffee in hand, but the quiet trails and insane colors make it one of my absolute favorite times of year to shoot.
