Queer Love and Elegant Vows at Aberthau Mansion in Vancouver

There’s something magical about watching two people in love, surrounded by their chosen family, in a space that feels just right. That’s exactly what happened at this stunning queer wedding at Celebration Pavilion and Aberthau Mansion, one of Vancouver’s most charming and underrated wedding venues.

It was clear this celebration was going to be equal parts personal, elegant, and unapologetically queer.

Some of the important vendors that helped bring this event to life included: Day of Events, Arbutus Florist, Sula Kitchen and Victoria Kuzma Hair.

A Ceremony Filled with Meaning at the Celebration Pavilion

The couple exchanged vows at the Celebration Pavilion, tucked inside Queen Elizabeth Park, one of Vancouver’s most loved wedding locations for a reason. With floor-to-ceiling glass walls, the light poured in around them as they stood surrounded by trees, flowers, and their closest people.

The ceremony felt intimate and powerful. They wrote their own vows, and made space for their most important people to hear their story celebrate them.
It was clear from the start: this was a celebration rooted in queer love, chosen family, and authenticity.

A Joyful Reception at Aberthau Mansion

The celebration continued at Aberthau Mansion, a Vancouver wedding venue known for its timeless charm and intimate feel.

Throught dinner, provide by Sula Kitchen, the night was filled with heartfelt speeches, spontaneous dancing, and a queer-friendly space that made everyone feel welcome. From the first toast to the final slow song, it was clear this reception wasn’t about tradition — it was about love, community, and celebration.

A Celebration That Felt Like Them

“We are not what other people say we are. We are who we know ourselves to be, and we are what we love.” — Laverne Cox

As queer people, that knowing does not always come easily. For so long, we are taught to question who we are, to hide parts of ourselves, or to shrink to fit into spaces that were never made for us. In the beginning, we often do not know exactly who we are or where we belong in the world. But when the time comes, when we begin to love ourselves and truly know ourselves, everything begins to shift. And when two queer people reach that place of self-love and self-understanding and then find each other..  it is something beyond words. To be fully seen and deeply loved by someone who recognizes your most authentic self is one of the most powerful experiences we can have. And to have a partner to build a life together and face the world side by side, is infinitely beautiful.
