Johnathan & Kevin found me online last winter and got in touch as they were searching for BC photographers. They chose Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island as their destination wedding location as it was close enough to home but far away enough that it felt like the perfect little getaway.
Planning a wedding from Seattle where they live, they wanted to be able to connect with a local photographer that would really fit effortlessly and most importantly comfortably into their celebration.
One of the key things for Kevin and Johnathan in their photographer search was finding someone that was also a part of the LGBTQ2S+ community. For most queer couples, comfort and peace of mind knowing they are in a safe space to be themselves is so important.
Their wedding celebration brought light to the importance of community in their lives, the unconditional love that supported them, and highlighted the special humans and relationships that make up their intimate circle.
The day started off taking portraits at McMicking Point near the water, and then we ventured into Victoria’s downtown to take photos around Chinatown.
Victoria Public Market was home to the celebration and where the rest of the night took place.
And once ceremony was over, this big gay wedding obviously ended with a big dance party.
